Site and Facilities

DRIVING & PARKING — Vehicular access is via the gate off of Boults Lane (OX3 0PW), past the recreation ground and next to the Roy Garner Pavilion. Vehicular access to our gate is restricted by a locked barrier so if you wish to bring your car on site please request a key from the secretary. The site speed limit is 5mph. We have a parking area immediately to the right of the main gate and there are other areas where cars may be parked across the site (please see the site map for details).
WATER — We have a number of communal water tanks located across the site. All are supplied with mains water throughout the summer months. However, members are expected to harvest rainwater on their own plots. This is to minimise not only water costs (as higher water bills result in higher rents) but also the broader environmental impact of using a mains-water supply. We aim to make out site as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible and consider maximising water self-sufficiency to be in our members’ interests. We can also offer advice on methods of cultivation (such as Hügelkultur and other permaculture practices) which improve water retention, and soil warming and fertility.
TOILET FACILITIES — We currently have one plumbed toilet on site, for the use of our members, accessible with a key. We are looking into adding composting toilets in the future.
WOOD CHIP — We receive regular deliveries of wood chip from a local tree surgeon. This is free for all association members to use on their plots.
RUBBISH & RECYCLING — Please take all non-organic waste home with you to be recycled where possible.
SHOP — We have our own shop, located in the Association shed, selling a wide variety of useful every-day allotments items (seeds, compost, fertilisers and much more ). Through bulk-buying we are able to reduce prices for our members. Our aim is also to reduce the number of vehicles onsite and to help members who do not have access to a car.
Opening hours — Sundays from 9.00am – 10.30 am (with some exceptions, each of which will be notified in advance outside the Shed.
We encourage members to share spare seeds and plants — veg, herbs or flowers. Please bring them to the shed on a Sunday morning.
